Today is the day!!
Checkin begins at 5:30pm - See you all there!
The evening begins with appetizers and guests using their fingers to sample, as the chefs from Nugget Markets, Cobram Estate, the House of Shah, Savory Café, Maria’s Cantina, and Mojo’s / Kitchen428 describe what went into their tasty bites. This year, Mike Blanchard and the Californios, an old school Country/Americana band, will be serenading.
Showcased this year is our very own Yolo County wine consortium - Roots to Wine – that includes Berryessa Gap Vineyard, Capay Valley Vineyards, Match Book Wine Company, Seka Hills, Simas Wines, Taber Ranch, and Turkovich Family Wines. The wines have been carefully selected to pare with the evening’s courses. Beers are all from Yolo County as well with Woodland’s own Blue Note Brewery, West Sacramento’s Yolo Brewing Company; Davis has Sudwerk Brewing Company, and “close enough” Dixon has Ruhstaller Beer.
Then the dinner bell chimes, and yes, it’s what you picture – the chuck wagon triangle sounds. Your table is ready! This is when glasses are raised; eyes are closed with every bite savored, and gratitude for sitting in the middle of ag country!
Chef John Gamboni from Morgan’s on Main and Chef Toby Barajas from Savory Café have trekked through the fields of Yolo County selecting products for this year’s menu. Winner of the 2017 Slow Food Yolo’s Snail of Approval Award, Chef Toby from Savory Café has designed something very special for the second two courses. Beautifully plated, his creations from seasonal produce will be a joy for your eyes and palate.
Our food whisperer and friend of every farmer and rancher in the region, Chef Juan Barajas, carefully procured the seasonal produce and protein for this year’s menu from our phenomenal growers and ranchers: Castañeda Brothers Produce, Fully Belly Farms, Del Rio Botanical, Durst Farms, Dwelley Farms, Emmer & Company, Manas Ranch, Muller Farms, R Kelly Farms, River Dog Farms, Séka Hills, Simas Farms of Capay Valley, Sparrow Lane, and Windmill Farm & Vineyard.
